Tia Thomas obtained her master's degree in criminology in 2011 and her master's degree in law in 2014, after studies at Ghent University and the Sorbonne in Paris.

In September 2014, she started working as a lawyer at the Ghent Bar Association. Since 2016, she has been part of law firm Rabotlaw.

Within the firm, she coordinates traffic cases where she developed a great expertise in alcohol and drug offences and driving disability.
